How are the wooden profiles painted?

The profiles go through a spraying tunnel to receive a coat of primer, which is both a fungicide and an insecticide.

The frames then receive two coats of paint, applied with a spray gun. The color is chosen by you.

What is the recommended maintenance for a wooden window frame?

The main points to remember are:

  • Cleaning is done with clear water, without abrasive products, organic solvents (alcohol...), or strongly alkaline products (ammonia).
  • It is not recommended to wash the woodwork with a high-pressure cleaner.
  • It is important to clear the drainage channels of the sashes and frames and ensure the cleanliness of the decompression chamber.
  • It is also necessary to check annually:
The flexible sealants of the tightening joints
            The flexible air-tightness barriers
The hardware: protect it if necessary from corrosion; lubricate moving parts; make adjustments or replacements.

Here you will find a PDF document detailing the required maintenance.

What is the acoustic efficiency of window frames?

The frames are equipped with a double seal. An exterior seal for weather insulation and an interior seal for sound insulation. Combined with double-glazed soundproof glass, this system will significantly increase acoustic attenuation. Laminated glass with an acoustic PVB film (also a security film) is the optimal solution: sound insulation (sound reduction index Rw) can be around 45 decibels (dB).

What is the thermal efficiency of Boulemberg windows?

Here, it is important to realize that what matters is the insulating power of the complete window, that is, the frame and the glazing. Choosing good glazing is therefore essential given the importance of the glazed surface in a window, especially in a sliding window or a bay window. In this respect, high-performance glazing is a very cost-effective solution.

Indeed, the air gap between the two panes (if it is double glazing) is replaced by a noble gas layer that is more efficient than air. This gas has a higher density than air, making it more difficult for gas molecules to move in the space and thus limiting thermal losses by convection.
